Floor Overlay treatments are some of the most extensive products in the marketplace and can be used individually or as part of a fuller system. These vary from structural load bearing Sound Isolation Boards to a simple Impact Damping Sheet. Many are separate interlayer’s either installed as an integrated board or independently as part of a system. Often the primary consideration with overlay materials as a singular option is the weight that with some cement composite boards can exceed 30kg/m2. This is certainly beneficial for Airborne transfer however less so for Impact Damping. Certainly Mass/weight is an important consideration however so is Resonance and Stiffness.
Getting this tricky combination bang on is not easy however certainly quite feasible provided the fundamental issues are handled in detail. |
