Conversion projects such as when a House is converted into Flats require a very great deal of co-ordination involving Architects, Acoustical engineers, Structural Surveyors, Building Contractors and Local Planning Authorities.
In Conversion properties Acoustic Testing is compulsory and not carried out until the Property is effectively ready to occupy. A failed test at this time can be a very serious issue for the owner as the works to remedy the acoustic issue will usually be very disruptive and very costly.

Previous projects subject to Compulsory Testing have proven to be a very useful tool in assessing differing constructions via the resulting noise data produced. We are now in a position to offer a Guaranteed 1st time pass (Doc E 2003 Edition) provided we write the specification, carry out the works and arrange the testing through an accredited independent Engineer. In the unlikely event of a test failure we will not only pay for additional testing until a pass is achieved, we will also pay for the remedial works.
We are currently not aware of any other company in this industry who will provide such a Comprehensive Guarantee.
The Sound Report does form part of the overall completion certificate issued by Building Control so is obviously not to be overlooked.
Building Control Dept will obviously require a detailed specification of all the proposed works as supplied by your experienced professional including a provision for Acoustic Works. This will often be supplied by the Architect and incorporated into the build as necessary often using proprietary acoustic systems they are familiar with.
In our experience these recommendations do not always carry any form of guarantee and should the structure fail a sound test the onus of responsibility falls on the owner and not necessarily the individual who compiled the specification.

Many of the Acoustic System Configurations we use are hybrid systems using components from many acoustic manufacturers and specialist Builders Merchants.
